Marla Stenson stood at the desk of the service advisor. Coolant dripping from underneath her Ford Explorer, steam coming thru the grille. "We can look at it first thing on Monday, but its goona be a bit til I can get you a ride home, the courtesy van just left with three people in it", The advisor said to her. Marla's head slumped, the perfect end to another week in her life. It had been 4 years since her husband had come home from work, telling her that he was leaving after 23 years of marriage. She had met Clayton in college, when he was a brilliant law student at Northwestern and she fell in love at first sight, the first real love she had ever had.
Unfortunately, Clayton had never felt the same way about her. She fit into his plans, finish school near the top, land a job with a top firm downtown in Chicago, move into one of the biggest homes in Kenilworth, Chicago's richest and one of the most exclusive North Shore suburbs. Marla went along, always beleiving that Ron really did love her, even though the signs showed he didnt and was just using her to keep a home while he cheated and lied his way thru life started popping up early in their marriage. Both of their daughters were in college when he left, so she stayed in the giant house on Sheridan Rd. right along Lake Michigan, trying to make sense of what had happened. Dating someone from Kenilworth didnt work, everyone was far too wrapped up in their image to want someone that had been dumped. She tried those computer dating services, they left her even more depressed, as most of the guys she was matched with cared more about her zip code then her. She had given up 2 years ago, basically living alone, except for the volunteer work she had always done with a Hospice center closeby, and for those brief times she spent with her daughters, who for some reason Marla couldnt explain had chosen their father's side in the split.
Marla had just started to turn and walk to the empty waiting room when the other service advisor overheard and offered, " hey Mike, I think Ron is still he, getting something for his truck, he lives nearby, I'll go ask if he'd do us a favor". "Great" Marla thought, imagines of a Larry-the Cableguy type in a old tow truck sprung into her head. She asked Mike if this guy was trustworthy. "Oh yeah, he used to work here, he left for a municipal job awhile back, he's a ok guy". " At least I wont get slashed and dumped in the forest preserve" she thought as the other advisor came out, then she saw Ron. He was mid 40's, a few years younger than her. About 6 ft tall, a small belly but nothing like she had imagined. A short flattop haircut, like a soldiers with some grey mixed into his brown hair, and blue eyes. It was the same type of blue that Clayton's eyes were.
Ron smiled at her "You must be Marla" as he stuck his hand out. She felt a warm rush go thru as they shook hands. " I dont mind giving you a ride home" As he offered to take the shopping bags she had " My truck is outside" as they went out of the garage, walking over to what to Marla appeared to be a giant monster truck. It was a dark blue 2008 Ford F-450 Super Duty pickup, with 2 giant smokestacks behind the cab, looking like a highway semi truck to her. "This is my baby he said as he opened up the door and put her things inside. Se looked up at it, wondering how she was going to climb in, it looked a mile high to her. Ron walked to the passenger side, reached under the door and pulled down a set of steps "I had these installed so my neices could get into it, as he took her hand and helped her up inside" She got in,her heels not helping though she nestled into the big passengers seat as Ron got into the drivers side and started the truck. Marla jumped when she heard the diesel engine roar to life, those big exhaust pipes behind the cab sounded like a jet plane on takeoff. Ron quickly closed the open windows, which made it much more quieter inside the cab. "Sorry about that" he said as they drove off. Marla had never been in anything like this before, and she thought probably never again as she looked at Ron as another one of those guys that had never completely grown up from their Tonka trucks.
But instead of talking about himself, like those computer date guys, Ron asked about HER, what she did, what she liked, in everything from movies to music to fruits and vegitables. She was completely taken aback by Ron. When they made it to Kenilworth, and then her house, her mind was racing with a million things she wanted to say, but she couldnt get her mouth to work, even after he helped her down and carried her groceries into her house. " Well, it was nice meeting you Marla, those guys will get your car fixed Im sure, take care now" as he turned for the door and was gone. Marla thought " Dummy!! are you gonna let him go without even trying???". She ran out the door as the big truck was rambling down the driveway, she tried to call his name, but the engine was too loud. Marla stopped, then started jumping up and down in the driveway, like a cheerleader, her heels coming off as she tried to get his attention. Ron caught a glimpse of her in his eye and stopped the truck, jumping out of it like something was wrong. He ran up to her as she said, "RonimsorryIdidntaskyouwhileyouwereinthehouse butwouldyouliketohavedinnersometime???"
She realized she had just sounded like Ralphie in " A Christmas Story" when he asked Santa for his BB gun in the giant slide in the store. Ron looked at her and smiled, "How about tonite?" he said. Marla was shocked and nodded a yes while saying it in a low voice. "Anyplace you care for around here?" Ron said.
"No, but I do have one guilty pleasure" Marla replied.
"Really??"
"I luv the 'bloomin onions' at Outback, they get them at work every now and then"
"Works for me" Ron replied. " how about I come back in about an hour?" Marla said that was fine. She smiled as she watch Ron pull away and drive off.
Just as Marla had toweled herself off, her phone rang, when she saw the caller i.d., her heart collapsed, it was Clayton. "What do you want? she asked. "fine way to talk to the only man in your life", he replied, "anyhow...Im closeby and Diane (Clayton's secretary and apparent new plaything) has to go bad, so rather than have her use some crummy gas station toilet, I figured she could use the toilets Im still paying for."
This wasnt totally true, Marla had received the house in the settlement and had stayed there, hoping someday would her girls would return, maybe with their kids.Marla still hadnt found the will to stand up to Clayton yet, even after these years. So when Clayton wanted to mock and rub it in Marla's face he'd come up with some excuse to drop by. Marla hated it, but she still wished somehow, theyd get back together, part of the reason shehad never moved on from the man that treated her like crap all these years.
It was still light out around 7:45, when Ron pulled up and saw a black Mercedes sedan in the driveway. He walked to the front door and rang the bell. Clayton beat Marla to the door, and when he opened it saw Ron's baby blue 1970 VW Beetle convertible sitting in the drive. " Guess this is your dinner, huh, look guy, just leave the pizza over there and be on your way." Ron saw Marla, tears in her eyes as she tried to smile at Ron.
"Hi Ron, Ill be with you in a moment" Marla said. Clayton turned around and continued his rant on Marla. "Emily told me you bought a new stove, what the hell do you need a new one for when you only cook for one, or is this guy your new boyfriend?"
Ron moved next to Marla, "actually Im taking her out to dinner, so if you'll excuse us, we have to be going".
Clayton burst out luaghing, even as his girlfriend tried to get him to leave, "I heard you were trying computer dating, this is the best you can do??? does he even know how to type??" Although Ron was at least a half a foot taller and 40 pounds heavier than Clayton, the ex-husband reveled in insulting his former wife and anyone else who got in his way. Ron felt his anger rising, but only got in Clayton's face " I think you better go now"
"are you threatening me?" Clayton said
"no, not in any way, and call the cops if you think you can intimidate me, I do all the engine work on the squad cars in this town"
Clayton had seen he wasnt going to win this one and turned and walked out the door. When he saw Ron's babyblue 1970 VW Beetle convertible parked alongside his Mercedes he started chuckling, even louder when he saw the little plastic daisy in the vase on the dashboard. He turned to Marla, who had thought if Ron had shown up in that hulking big truck that Clayton might have been a bit more quiet " You keep finding guys like this on the computer, what does he do your windows too? I shoulda dumped you years ago"
Ron got between them as Clayton opened the door of his car. Grabbing Clayton's shoulder and spinning him around, Ron hollered "You ever talk to this lady again like this, even if Im not in her life, I WILL come find you and lick the holy livin shit out of you, I was brought up to treat people with respect, even bums like you... UNDERSTAND!!!!" For the first time ever, someone had stood up to Clayton in his house, he tossed his hands upin the air "Fine" "Shes your problem now" As he pulled his car out of the driveway and sped off, Ron turned around and saw Marla, in tears " Im soo sorry Ron, I didnt want you to see that" Ron took her hand.
"No man should talk to a lady like that, no matter who they are to each other" Marla felt Ron's hand covering hers, for the first time in a long time, she felt safe.
After a few moments, Marla collected herself and the two took off in the Beetle, headed to the Outback in Niles. She enjoyed the wind as it blew her hair around in the evening breeze. Ron explained to her that this was his first car, as he had started his first job at small Volkswagen garage in Evanston at 16. As they sat at the bar while they waited for a table he told her that he always said if he ever got the cash he'd fix it up. He told Marla that he hadnt done much to it for years until he got engaged 6 years ago. he ordered Marla a glass of wine and a beer for himself.
"What happened? if I can ask?" Marla said just before the pager went off and they were escorted to a table.
"Well, she was killed in a car accident, she lost control of her car on the Edens Expressway and hit a light pole, the police said she swerved to miss a peice of tire in her lane"
"Im very sorry" Marla said as the waitress came to the table breaking the moment. Ron looked up at the waitress and without hesitating ordered a "bloomin onion" Marla smiled and told Ron he didnt have to finish his story if he didnt want to; "no its ok" Ron explained "I felt sorry for myself for awhile, just hung out at the bowling alley, golfed, drank alot, but I knew I couldnt live like this forever, so one day I just started working on it."
They ordered dinner as both told each other their stories, Marla looking into Ron's eyes every chance she could get, when Ron's cuaght hers they both laughed. They realized they were enjoying themselves for a first time in a long time. Ron asked Marla about Clayton, she told him her life story and how she felt, until just a few hours earlier, when she watched Ron stand up to him.
"I wasnt doing anything I wouldnt have done for anyone, I wasnt brought up like that and I dont feel people should be treated like that", as he took Marla's hand in his. When he payed the check they walked outside into the still warm night. When they got to the Beetle, Marla looked at him and smiled, Ron took her in his arms and kissed her softly on the lips. They stayed like that for several seconds, "I was gonna ask if you wanted to stop for ice cream, but"
Marla laughed "that sounds wonderful" and they got in and drove off to a small stand in Glenview, the kind everyone remembers from their childhood. They sat in the car and ate, then drove off along Lake Michigan. They parked near the beach along the campus of Northwestern University, got out and walked along the lake, holding hands. Marla had gone here for 4 years with Clayton, yet never once did he take her for a walk, but she didnt tell Ron that, as far as she was concerned, that part of her life was fading from her memory now.
They paused every now and then, looking out over the lake and sharing a few more kisses, each one a bit longer and deeper than the last. By now it had gotten well past 1a.m. and had decided it was time to go home. When they got to Marla's home they sat in the car and talked some more, before they knew, it was well past 3 in the morning, Marla took his hand and said " I dont want you to leave" Ron took his other and and brushed her cheek as he got out of the car and opened her door. "To be honest, I know it doesnt sound romantic, but I need to use the lil boys room"
Marla giggled as she opened the door and sat down on the couch, smiling as large as she had in years. Her head rested on the couch, before she knew it she had drifted to sleep. Ron came back to the family room and saw her, gently snoring. he paused, maybe she was playing a game until he got close to her and knew she had fallen asleep. Ron picked her up in his arms and started to find the stairs, carrying her up to her room. he laid her down on the bed, taking off her sandals and putting a small comforter over her. He knew he couldnt leave her like this, so he sat down on a large chair by the window and watched her sleep.
The sun was shining thru the window, as it started to climb over lake. It shined in Marla' eyes as she awoke. She saw Ron sitting there, his arms folded, sound asleep. She went to him and put a small blanket over him when she saw his eyes open.
"Good morning" he said, her eyes smiled at him as she leaned over and kissed his lips, soon their mouths pressed together as she sat down in his lap, his arms wrapped around her. Their tongues danced together as they hugged tighter. Without saying a word Marla hopped off of Ron's lap and she stood up, taking his hand as he stood as well. He started to unbutton her blouse, as her hands pulled his polo shirt from his khakis. They stood there in the early light, kissing and slowly undressed each other, where he layed her down on the bed, joining her. As they kissed and hugged soon his hand found its way between her legs. caressing her slit. Marla moaned softly , holding his hand down there, soon another finger had found its way inside, her pussy quickly becoming soaked.
"Ron" she moaned " please could you...ummm kiss me down there" Ron quickly obliged her, kissing down her chest and stomache, and soon had her legs parted, his tongue quickly darting in and out of her. Marla moaned loudly, her hips squirming. In all her years with with Clayton she could never get him to do this for her. After the divorce, longed for it so much, but none of the men she met online had gotten this far with her, she felt it would never ever happen. Once at home online she had watched a lesbian video just to see someone get pleasure from that act.But now Ron had cleared those memories out of her head as well. She quickly orgasmed and a few more after that, as Ron stayed there for at least an hour or so, it seemed to her.
Finally, she pushed Rons head up .."Fuck me now Ron I need that cock inside of me please" Without hesitation Ron climbed up and soon worked himself inside of Marla's wet hole.
"Oh hmmmm yes ohhhhhhhhh", Ron moaned as he started to rock himself in and out of Marla, her legs wrapped around his waist.
"god yess fuck me fuckme"she said as Ron kept up his pace. An hour of being semi hard as well as the lil blue pill he had taken last evening, just in case, had him close to cumming. Their eyes met again, just as his balls erupted, filling her. They kept fucking for a few more moments, til he collapsed into her arms. They fell asleep together, waking up later in the day, this time making love well into the night and early Sunday morning. When they were both awake Sunday, Marla realized she never wanted to spend another night of her life without him.
It was a wish that would come true. That Monday morning a "For sale" sign went up in front of that big house in Kenilworth, as the 2 of them jetted off to Las Vegas to be wed. She moved into his house in Morton Grove, and soon learned to drive the little babyblue Beetle, which she drove for many happy years after, especially when she drove her grandaughters in it to that lil ice cream stand....
