DIED INSIDE AGAIN **************************
He was always ready to leave, take flight,
So why should she be so surprised?
It should be old hat by now with her,
Why did she even feel the bite?
* * * *
Hundreds of times he's flown high,
This time with mysterious sad words,
Better than nothing she told herself,
Clinging to sayings that pacify.
* * * *
He'd pay his dues to get his fair cut,
Days he'd invest to buy the future,
Trapped in ancient dark brick brooding places,
Jailed by his need to succeed and strut.
* * * *
His future rests on making a show,
Postponed dreams forever lost to him,
Yet she hate's herself for quizzing him,
When his plate's so full there's overflow.
* * * *
He swore he could have heard her mutter,
When he cried and blessed her silently,
As she mourned her fate, Died again inside and shuddered.
