Merry and Nicholas enjoyed dinner joining in on the jovial exchanges and singing at the Bed and Breakfast in downtown "P" town on Cape Cod Bay.
When it was time to leave, they wished everyone a Merry Christmas and promised they would try to return to celebrate New Year's Eve. Nicholas led Merry to his sleigh, gave "Mr. Ed" a cube of sugar, tucked the blanket in around Merry and with a "Giddy-up" they took off at a steady trot down the snow covered streets long deserted by the summer folk.
Merry asked Nicholas if he was taking her to the North Pole. He chuckled and said:
"Of course, that's what you wanted wasn't it?"

After a half hour of traveling deep into the woods they pulled up to large log cabin lodge and out buildings with a sign overhead that said, "The North Pole". Once inside Nicholas brought Merry hot chocolate, cookies and his warm robe. After he put on the music and lit the fire, he excused himself to go unbridle Mr. Ed in the middle of the most raging hard-on of his life.

Thirty minutes later he called from his office in the stable sending Merry an email on her Blackberry:
"Dear Merry, I decided not to come back up to the lodge tonight. I have a long night ahead of me. My assistant Elfin will look after any needs you may have. When I return to the lodge in the morning, I hope with all my heart you will be still be there waiting for me. I am so hungry for more than cookies and milk! Hugs, Nicholas."

Elfin waited on Merry hand and foot anticipating her every need until she finally curled up on the sofa in front of the fireplace and ended up falling to sleep.
An hour later Elfin woke her up with a big tray ladened with hot homemade breads, mulled cider, and fresh fruit. He said he had just received an instant message from Nicholas and because of the snow, he may not be returning until morning. He hastened to add:
"Nicholas sends his regrets but trusts I have made you comfortable in his absence."
Merry blew him a kiss and replied:
"Oh Elfin, you have been wonderful! Please tell Nicholas that I have been waiting for him all my life and few more hours won't matter."
Elfin bowed and left the room assuring her he would deliver the message.

Fifteen minutes later there was another email from Nicholas:
Merry I still have not delivered all the gifts to the patients in my designated areas. Maybe in the next hour or so I will be done and stay here, sleep in the Mass General's Hospitality Suite. Thank goodness there are other Santa's all over the world that help get this job done and it is not all up to me! Tonight it is not easy to concentrate with you on my mind.
When I get back, the last wrapped gift I will deliver is yours. It is a monogrammed IPOD that contains copies of all of your favorites songs. I found them on your You Tube and had a friend of mine load them all on. I figured we could enjoy them together when I returned. There's one more gift for you but that one I am keeping a surprise! Merry fell asleep hoping Nicholas would return rather than stay in Boston. At 1:00 AM Merry woke up and glanced at the clock. Rolling over she went back to sleep until sometime later she had the distinct impression a ring was being slipped on her finger.
From the fireplace glimmer she saw the biggest diamond she had ever seen and Nicholas. She was happy to see both were indeed real and not a dream.
Hugging Merry and propping her up, he began stroking her beautiful hair. Then for the very first time, he kissed her and said:
"I want you so much! I know this is sudden but I want you to marry me and become Mrs. Clause. I want to make love to you, but NOT before we marry....before my mother died, she made me promise that when the ideal woman came along, I would not make love to her out of wedlock. It sounds provincial I know, but I need to keep my word to her and at the same time, make an honest woman out of you."
Merry was shocked at Nicholas's old-fashioned attitude. She was SOOO stunned she couldn't speak.
Everything in her wanted Nicholas, to be with him, to stay with him, to make mad passionate love with him.
But marriage? That was the last thing in the world she wanted, even though the idea of being married to
"Santa Clause" tickled her funny bone.
Knowing Nicholas wanted her out of all the girls he had ever known and that she was the 1st choice in his eyes after his living forty years as a bachelor, warmed her heart and further flamed her physical desires for him.
Merry's entire body was surging with pent-up passion but the price he was asking her to pay confused and depressed her.
Sensing her anguish, Nicholas talked more seriously:
"Look at it this way Merry. We can sign a mutual pre-nup that automatically ends our marriage in one year unless we renew it. The way I see it, we can do this every year on Christmas Day. It will be our gift to each other and help ensure we will never tire one another."
Merry shook her head and said:
"That's it? Well, it sounds workable, but help me out here. I need to know more."
Looking deeply into Merry's eyes he told her:
"We can grow as people and adapt to each other as time goes on. Also, we can have a built-in flexibility in our relationship that satisfies our mutual needs should either of us ever feel we need erotic variety in the years to come. Right now, I feel confident you are right for me and I am right for you.... Let's grab our happiness tonight while our lust for each other is so intense we can't think straight. This is the best gift we can ever give each other. Not only that, we DESERVE each other Merry. We are both good people and equally matched. I am sure we will be happy. It feels so right, I hope it does for you too."
Snuggling closer, Merry asked:
"But Nicholas, how would we do all of this, I mean right now?"
Giving her a reassuring hug and kiss, Nicholas said:
"It's easy darling, I get a marriage license every Christmas Season in hopes I will find the love of my life. The Captain of the Ferry that brought you across the bay is normally a judge. He's a friend of mine and
has agreed to take us out to sea and marry us later in the day after we have had some sleep. And oh, another thing, I forgot to mention Elfin is actually my legal aide. I can have him draw up a simple prenup and fax it over to us to sign on the boat. By the way, did I mention that I'm a Federal Judge when not Santa?
Still not sure it wasn't all a dream, Merry laughed and looked up at Nicholas with adoring eyes and told him:
"Yes my darling, I want to do it just as you have explained. I do love you, I have always loved you. Besides, what's NOT to love about Santa?"
He chuckled and nuzzled her neck and said:
"I am perfect for you Merry, I will be a good mate
and friend."
With the deal sealed they murmured "Merry Christmas" to each other and said not another word as they lay listening to the fireplace crackling and Elfin rustling around in the background preparing Christmas Dinner for them and a few friends at 8:00 PM.
Exhausted from the day, they soon fell sound asleep, at last content and peaceful in each others arms.
