Hey All: I know there is no forum on here for discussion, so I am forced to go this route, but I just felt the need. I am a music fan. To me music well, OK, it comes after sex, but it is up there. I am also one of those people who believes Jimmy Reed's birthday should be a national holiday. I believe everyone should get off that day, from work I mean. Yes, Mathis James Reed was born in Dunleith, Mississippi on September 6, 1925. Better known as Jimmy Reed. I'm sure you are wondering by now why I would possibly even consider the idea of making Jimmy's birthday a national holiday. Sure, it would be a great day for adults to be off. September 6...the kids just started school, the adults deserve a day at home, right? But why Jimmy Reed's birthday you ask? Good question. All I can do to convince you all is to let Jimmy tell it in his own words. Here are the lyrics to three of Jimmy's songs. Songs two, three and four off of the Jimmy Reed album titled 'Just Jimmy Reed' on VJ Records, VJ SR1050. These are just the lyrics; you can't even imagine the rhythms if you have not heard this album. Here goes, you decide:
Let's Get Together: Well, when I went downtown Messed and got back late Found a note there waitin' It read "Johnny I just can't wait"
But let's get together baby, See what we can do I ain't worried 'bout nobody Only worried about you.
Well now, you know my baby told me She said, "Better listen" "You better come on home to me baby" "You don't know what you're missin'"
But let's get together baby, See what we can do I ain't worried 'bout nobody Only worried about you.
When I call my baby, Call her on the 'phone Told her not to worry Daddy comin' home.
And we can get together baby See what we can do I ain't worried about nobody Only worried about you.
Good Lover: Well, my baby want's things and diamond ring Big fine car and everything But I'm a natural born lover Yeah, I'm a natural born lover Well, now tell me baby Which one of us would you rather?
Well now all of those luxuries don't mean a thing You should get yourself a real good man And I'm a real gone lover Yeah, I'm a natural born lover Well, now tell me baby Which one of us would you rather?
I ain't got no mansion, no diamond ring Big fine car, I ain't got a thing But I'm a natural born lover, yeah I'm a real good lover Well now tell me baby Which one of us would you rather?
Take It Slow: Don't rush through life You should take your time If you go too fast You're gonna knock yourself out tryin'
Take it slow Slow, slow, slow and easy Take it slow Slow, slow, slow and easy
If you meet a girl She's your heart's desire Don't rush romance Let your conscience be your guide
Take it slow Slow, slow, slow and easy Take it slow Slow, slow, slow and easy
If you want a love One gonna really last You don't want no love That you catch on too fast
Take it slow Slow, slow, slow and easy Take it slow Slow, slow, slow and easy.
OK, still not convinced? I guess you just have to buy the album and hear for yourself...in the meantime, I respect. September 6...what can you do to make Jimmy proud?
Even if you do not think Jimmy's birthday should be a national holiday, what do you think about a stay-at-home-and-have-sex-day? Show your support by rating this fantasy. Thanks.
