As I sit here all alone
I cannot taste you through the phone

Here in my arms for me to hold
Without you this winter's night seems so cold

Yet you left early one morning not saying a word
Now no lovemaking sounds in this house can be heard
But it's no good I just carry on loving you
For I realise now that it's all I can do

Even though we are now so far apart
There will always remain for you a place in my heart
I just wish that now for this New Year's Night
You would return and that we could re-unite
