In my long lifetime, I have discovered several rules that one must follow in a relationship but the most important, at least for me, is not to have sexual encounters with my female friends. The oppotunities are there though.
Most of my female friends are very attractive women that if we weren't friends...I would screw in a heartbeat!
I've learned that most of my friends aren't looking for a quickie yet rather a long lasting relationship with a guy who makes them happy and secure. I can do this but when sex gets involved it's a new ball game. Maybe it's the female genes?
Since I did learn this at a fairly young age, I refused to push relationships to a sexual thing because I wanted these people in my life and not to lose them over trivial matters.
Some of my deepest feelings (love?) did survive the test of time because of our substaining from the sexual act. Some probably ended! It's funny now but I once had a dear female friend question me as to why we never had sex. I replied honestly, that I appreciated our relationship as just friends and knew it would end badly if we had.
I always looked for that one special person to complete my life and though I found her, she died before we could make it happen in earnest. I have another S.O. and am still taking my time with her even though we have slept together. Funny how life works!
