(This song was composed by using mostly titles and phrases from songs)
Another night slowly closes in and I feel so lonely as I walk alone down Desolation Boulevard. I'm planning to soon be sitting on the dock of the bay. Arriving at my destination I look out over the water. To myself, yet vocally, I say, "Hello darkness my old friend. I've come to talk with you again, because a vision softly creeping, left it's seeds while I was sleeping. And the vision that was planted in my brain still remains"
I paused as if I was waiting for a reply, then I continued with my thoughts. "Yesterday when I was young, the taste of life was sweet like rain upon my tongue. Now, the sounds of silence is all I hear," I lamented. Looking up at the night sky I fight back the tears and babble, "She's got something that moves my soul, and she knows I'd love to love her."
After a while, I decide to sit down. As I lean back against one of the support posts, I notice a seagull nearby so I try to converse with it. "Take a look at me now! There's just an empty space," I began. The bird looked at me as if I were crazy. It didn't matter to me what thoughts the bird might have had, at least it seemed to be listening to me so I continued. "Ya know, she's like the wind through the trees. She's taken my heart - she doesn't know what she's done," I proclaimed. The seagull stood motionless. "She's the wind beneath my wings," I said without realizing the joke I could be accused of making. Fortunately, the seagull didn't pick up on it either.
I leaned my head back against the post. "I don't know what to do. I'm always in the dark. Living in a powder keg and givin' off sparks," I moaned softly. "That girl has temptation eyes looking thru my soul," were my last words before I unknowingly dozed of.
I was shocked when I heard a female voice from behind me say, "Let's dance together, just for tonight. Let's not worry about nothing else."
Staggering to my feet, from out of the shadows she walks like a dream. "I can't believe it's you!" I exclaim as I slowly walked toward you. "It's a marvelous night for a moon dance with the stars twinkling there in your eyes," I whisper as I look at you.
You looked hot! A black haired beauty with big dark eyes and my temperature started to rise. Yes, you certainly are a long cool woman! We embrace and you whisper, "Forever's gonna start tonight."
I just closed my eyes again and climbed aboard the 'Dream Weaver' train. "I like dreaming 'cause dreaming can make you mine," I replied softly with. We started swaying to the music that only we could hear.
"Put your head on my shoulder. Hold me in your arms," you said as your hand gently pressed down on my head. We continued dancing in the dark, but the next words from your mouth I have to admit were frightening. I remember you were hugging me when you stated, "There's so much I need to say to you. So many reasons why."
For some unknown reason, a glimpse of my past shot through my head. I couldn't help from snickering.
"What's so funny?" you ask.
I looked into your eyes. "Poor old Granddad. I laughed at all his words. I thought he was a bitter man, he spoke of woman's ways, 'They'll trap you, then they use you before you even know, for love is blind and you're far too kind. Don't ever let it show' he had said to me when I was sixteen."
You smiled a little smile for me. "But I need you now, tonight! And I need you more than ever, and if you only hold me tight, we'll be holding on forever."
Many thoughts raced through my head. I knew even wild horses couldn't drag me away but my gut was telling me. "the dark side is calling. Now nothing is real and she'll never know just how I feel."
I was removed from my trance when you said, "When you're weary, feeling small, when tears are in your eyes I will dry them all. I'm on your side when times get rough and friends just can't be found. Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down."
"You can make this beggar a king, a clown, or a poet," I confessed as I kiss your neck.
You gasped softly. "Do that to me one more time! Once is never enough!"
I willing oblige your her request. I hear you softly panting from arousal. With your panting increasing, you moan, "kiss me! Beneath the milky twilight, lead me out on the moonlit floor. Lift your open hand, strike up the band and make the fireflies start dancing!"
"I'm the one who wants to be with you," my trembling voice managed to relay to you. You kissed me passionately and I found out you have kisses sweeter than wine!
"I'll be your hope. I'll be your love. I'll be everything that you need," you whisper as your ebony eyes stared into my brain.
"Maybe it's me that's gone crazy 'cause I can't figure out why all these lovers keep hurting each other when good love is so hard to come by," I replied as I gently ran my hands over your beautiful face. We were surprised when we saw lightning flicker, miles away, out over the water.
"Girl, you really got me going," I had to confess as the verification to my statement grew thicker and longer in my pants. "You got what it takes to set my soul on fire!"
The storm had moved in quite quickly and big drops of rain began to fall on us. "Here comes the rain again, falling on my head like a memory," I heard you say as you began to sob softly.
After I gently wiped the tears from your eyes, I kiss your hand and say, "sign your name across my heart, I want you to be my baby," as I lift your hand to my chest.
"Do you believe in love? Don't tell me a lie - don't be false or untrue - it all comes back to you !" you say.
"For you Baby, I would swim the sea," I began. My hands ran slowly down over the exotic curves of your body. "Nothing I'd do for you that's too tough for me. I would walk ten miles on my hands and knees, ain't no doubt about it Baby, it's you I aim to please!"
Our special moment was interrupted by the rain which began falling hard and fast. We ran to a nearby movie theater. As we approached the booth, I said, "Two please," as I held out my money.
We were standing under the canopy and I glanced over and saw your dress was now clinging tightly to your body. "Never could build you a castle, even though you're the queen of my heart," I said so softly you didn't even hear me.
I glanced back at the fat man sitting on a little stool. I was wondering what was taking him so long. He takes the money from my hand while his eyes take a walk all over you. He hands me two tickets, smiles and whispers, "good luck".
We headed to the back row and sat down. Seeing you quiver from the chill of your wet dress against you, I put my arm over your shoulder. "If I said you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?" I asked with a devilish grin, remembering that my Father once told me that a woman is sentimental and so easy to upset. He had also told me, "You gotta love her, tease her, but most of all you gotta please her."
I knew that if given the chance, I would forever treat you like a lady.
"Boy, that's real original," you say smugly.
"Well, if I swore you were an angel would you treat me like the devil tonight?"
"Stop! In the name of love!" you shot back. We both started laughing hysterically
"Do you love me?" I asked.
The smile disappeared from your face. "I'd rather hurt you honestly than mislead you with a lie," you said as you lowered you head.
I placed my finger under your chin and lifted your head. "Where ever you go, I'll be with you. What ever you want, I'll give it to you."
The tears were falling like rain from your eyes. "I want to walk in the open wind. I want to talk like lovers do," you whimpered through your tears.
"That's what I was just going to say!" I said in shock. "You can read me like a book - like a fortune teller," I said with a smile. "And everybody needs a fortune teller!"
You grinned a little bit. "You've got your problems, and I've got mine, but I wish that we could sit upon the bed in some hotel and listen to the stories we could tell!" I said, knowing after I said it that it didn't make a lot of sense.
"Oh Sweetheart, seems like after a few years with me, the ashes still smolder but the warmth's soon gone. You'll end up cold and lonely on your own," you say, still fighting back tears.
"Baby, I was walking on sunshine, but now it feels like I'm walking on broken glass," I say as I grasp your hand. "I'm beginning to think that trying to catch your heart is like try to catch a star!"
"Don't give up on us, Baby!" you say with a surprisingly amount of concern. As I look into your dark eyes, I hear you saying, "I want to stand with you on a mountain. I want to bathe with you in the sea, and as long as the sun continues to shine, there's a place for you in my heart. That's the bottom line!"
Without taking my eyes from yours, I remind you, "It's raining outside."
The look on your face was priceless. "You're a shit!" you exclaim, now smiling as you playfully slapped my arm. "Is it raining men? If it is, I'm outta here!" you laugh.
"If you leave me now, I'll get by with a little help from my friends," I shoot back with a chuckle. I stand up and pretend to start toward the aisle.
"Turn around. Look at me," you call.
I turn and say, "Sail on silver girl. Sail on by. Your time has come to shine. All your dreams are on their way. I'm your vehicle baby. I'll take ya anywhere you wanna go," holding out my hand to you.
You calmly stay seated, knowing I'm just having fun. "Every rose has it's thorn, you know," was your calm response.
Reaching in my pocket I say, "I'm gonna take you on a trip so far from here. I've got two tickets in my pocket. Now Baby, we're gonna disappear!"
I see you grinning, desperately trying to contain your laughter. "I'm too sweet and innocent to go with a man like you!" you manage to say (rather convincingly too I might add).
As I start dancing, I sing out, "Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet! Little Miss Innocent - sugar me! Pour some sugar on me!"
I see your body convulsing from the silent laughter that has erupted within you. I return to where you're seated and kneel down. I motion you to move your head toward mine. Once our heads were close together I whisper, "They say that Eve tempted Adam with an apple, but man, I ain't going for that. I know it was her pink Cadillac!"
You're laughing audibly now so I continue. "I just wonder what it feels like in the back of your pink Cadillac!" as my eyebrows move rapidly up and down.
Laughing hard, you manage to say, "You spin me right 'round baby! Right 'round!" as you gently put your hands around my head. "Like a record, baby!" you add as you kiss me.
"We gotta get out of this place, if it's the last thing we ever do!" I stated anxiously. "I just remembered that this is the city where the streets have no name."
"Paranoia. Self destroyer," you reply.
"I'm not uptight. Not unattractive. Turn me on tonight 'cause I'm radioactive!" I say as I begin to gyrate my hips.
As you rise to your feet, you're still laughing. "Well, when you're hot you're hot!" you giggle. We're soon headed out to the truck, walking hand in hand.
"Remember walking in the sand?" I ask as I open the door for you.
"What have I," you begin to say as you climb into my truck. "What have I done to deserve this?" you query me from the truck.
I just grin and say, "I've got pictures, candy, I'm a lovable man and I can take you to the nearest star. I'd love you in the morning. I'd love at noon. I'd love you in the night and take you to the moon."
You shake your head in disbelief. "Crazy. I'm crazy for loving you," I hear you mutter as I close the door.
We soon arrived at the motel and as we walked past the lounge, we heard the band playing some really up-tempo music. "Let's dance the night away!" you say in a very bubbly, energetic voice.
Looking into your big dark eyes, my heart begins to melt. "Sure, if I can sit out most of them," I say as we turn and walk through the doorway. It took no time at all before you were being asked to dance.
"She's a beauty. A one in a million girl," I think to myself as I watch you on the dance floor. My God! You were shakin', snappin' your fingers; you were moving round and round, up and down. Yeah, you were shakin'. Then some guy walked over to the table.
"My name is Bill," he said as he held out his hand and asked me if it didn't make me angry that you were dancing with everyone but me. I just looked at him.
"She saves the last dance for me," I stated flatly. My reply was more firm than my handshake at that point due to my intoxication level.
"Good to meet you, hope you guess my name, but she's my girl, Bill," I said. Then, just to make my point plain to him, I added, "And when we get behind closed doors, and she lets her hair hang down, then she makes me glad that I'm a man!"
He just turned and walked away. There was no reply at all.
It was now almost 2:00 AM and you came back to the table where I was sitting. You extend your hand to me. I grasp it and stand up. "There's nothing left to talk about unless it's horizontally!" you giggle to me as we walk back to the dance floor.
"Let's get physical," I said as I patted you on the butt.
You whirl and look at me. The fire in your eyes was ablaze. "Don't give me no lines and keep your hands to yourself!"
"Be hard to slow dance if I do keep my hands to myself," I whispered in your ear as my arms slid around your slender, firm waist.
I knew my Baby likes to rock it like a boogie-woogie choo-choo train, and I learned years ago that a kiss is a terrible thing to waste so I decided to try a shot of humor and she what you'd do.
"What's your name, little girl? What's your name?" I asked in a quizzical manner. Your reply was almost instantaneous.
"My name is Emergency and I'd like to see your gun," you said as you twirled in front of me. "By the way, my telephone number is 9-1-1. Call me on the line. You can call me any time!"
We laughed and with my arms around you good and tight, I heard you say, "Baby. Baby, don't get hooked on me. I'll just use you then I'll set you free."
Kissing your neck, just below your ear, I say, "but if it feels this good getting used, girl, you keep on using me until you use me up!"
The world was moving and she was right there with it. Yeah, she was. Just then the sharp retort from the whistle of a passing tugboat woke me from my slumber.
I looked around and you're not there. "Baby come back!" I pleaded to darkness that surrounded me.
"Life is just a fantasy when you live a fantasy life," said an old drunken sailor as he stumbled past me.
I unwillingly began to sink back into reality. I knew that it's going to be the same as it ever was. "It's the same old song and dance," I said, mostly to myself but in the general direction of the drunkard, now winding his way down Baker Street.
"You don't have to say you love me. Just be close at hand," I sobbed to the vision of you I still had locked up in my brain.
I was heartsick as the finality of this scenario hit me. I wanted to explain how we would remain forever young, but the words get in the way. "I was made for lovin' you, Baby. You were made for lovin' me!" was all I wanted to tell you.
"I'll be working my way back to you, Babe," I said softly under my breath, but I knew we would still be oceans apart day after day, and I slowly go insane.
