By mid morning, the small town was quiet. Her favorite time to jog. Slowly, she passed Cape Cod style homes. Fall was in the air, crisp, cool air, brillant red leaves filled the tree line street. At the end of the street, a path led into the woods. The young woman joged towads it. A nervous twitch in her stomach made her look around, then behind her. She always listened to her instincts, she saw a man about fifty yards behind her. He was jogging as well, but something didn't sit well with her. She looked ahead, the path was a minute away. Looking over her shoulder again, the other jogger was gone. There were no side streets to turn on, so where was he? She turn around in a circle, no sight of him anywhere. Her insides told her to move-now! She picked up her pace and entered the woods a few moments later. The woods are thick with all kinds of trees. Barely any sunlight made it through the overhead branches. Her uneasiness increased. A branch snapped off to her right, followed by another. She went from jogging to a full run. She saw high brush being moved aside, someone was running right at her! She cut left quickly, heavy footsteps close behind filled her ears. Fear filled her, she cut right, ducking under low branches. A heavy thud behind her told her the pursuer fell to the ground. She went into a full sprint. Turning left and right at random, trying to confuse whoever was back there. A steep path led to a wall of pines, she quickly hid behind them. She doubled over, gasping for breath. A sharp snap rang in her ears.
