She was used to working with guys in hard hats, it was her job and she was good at it. She was an engineer and a darn good one she knew. She worked with architects, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, brick layers and got along really well with all of them. She was well respected with the guys on whatever job she was working on.
If all that was true why was it so hard to get along with him. She tried to hold her temper but this guy infuriated her like no one else.
She was in the onsite trailer working on some stats and going over the blue prints. He was late for their meeting and she was annoyed. Her time was valuable and she resented wasting it. She'd give him five more minutes and then she was leaving.
The door to the trailer opened and the architect walked in ducking his head to clear the doorway. She gave him a nod and launched into her speech, ready to do battle with him. There were a few things that she wanted to change on his designs, things that would avoid cost over runs and save them significant time. He bent down, took a bottle of water from the fridge and looked her in the eye.
He had listened to her carefully and knew that his designs were solid. Nothing would be changed on his designs just to save money, of that he was sure.
He looked at her carefully and he started to get that feeling he got whenever she was around. Her skin was so soft looking and her mouth had a fullness that enticed him to kiss her. She was slim with curves in just the right places. He looked at the thick braid down her neck and had a desire to undo it and see how long her hair really was. They had worked together for about two months now and she always attracted him.
"Have dinner with me tonight " he said. She gave the idea about ten seconds of thought and then said" No thanks." He kept asking and she kept refusing, he needed a new strategy he thought.
If he wasn't so arrogant and overly confident she'd be attracted to him. He was the kind of guy she stayed away from though he was too handsome for his own good.. But he was very nice to look at she had to admit. They were on the site watching the building evolve from the ground up. He had been watching her from a distance, she was definitely sexy in those tight jeans and that yellow hard hat he thought. She moved very gracefully despite the work boots she wore.
He heard someone yell "LOOK OUT DOWN THERE!" He looked up in time to see a large piece of metal hurling down headed right toward her. He ran and knocked her over but managed to get her out of the way. She was shaken up but otherwise ok. She looked at him and said "Thanks, thanks alot ." She was still pretty shaky so he got her some water and walked her back to the trailer. "I'm going to go find out how the hell that metal bar came loose he said. Stay here and rest a little while he suggested to her. She said she would. He found a blanket on the shelf and covered her with it. He went back down to where the accident happened and talked with the workers. One guy remembered tripping over some metal objects on the floor and before he knew it they were over the edge and tumbling downward.
His quick action had probably saved her a serious concussion. By the time he returned to the trailer she was gone. He let out a long sigh and returned to the site once more.
For the next few weeks he saw very little of his engineer, maybe she was avoiding him he considered. He was at home just out of the shower when his door bell rang. He wrapped a towel around his waist and answered the door. There she stood holding two big grocery bags. She had her hair down and he could tell she was wearing lipstick and something pinkish on her cheeks. She still wore jeans but she looked wonderful he thought , very feminine.
"I've been thinking about how you saved me from having a steel rod sticking out of the top of my head and I wanted to thank you so I got all the ingredients for a great dinner."
He quickly dressed and then sat on a stool at the counter enjoying the wine she had brought as she magically prepared a meal right in front of him. She made a salad, grilled some chicken and made a wonderful smelling Mexican rice dish all in a half hours time. They sat out on the patio to eat and she had even brought the candles, now burning in the dusky night sky. They talked non- stop but he couldn't keep his eyes off her mouth. God how he wanted to taste it!
They continued to talk well into the night, it was the most relaxed he had ever seen her. She didn't seem so guarded or so serious. She looked soft, feminine and beautiful.
She had to admit he was really a lot nicer than she had expected. Gone was the ego and the arrogance she detected at work. Instead she found him to be funny, smart and sincere. He was passionate about what he did and talked incessantly about his vision for the building they worked on.
They seemed to run out of topics to cover and looked out into the night sky. He heard the music playing from a lonely saxophone that his neighbor now played in one of the apartments below his. He stood and said dance with me......... please he added. She stood and he took her into his arms and they danced slowly and rhythmically to the sounds from below.
His mouth came down on hers, softly, tenderly. She could taste the heat as his mouth continued to explore hers. As her lips parted he dove in deeper and then was over his head. His hands trailed under her sweater exploring the softness the subtle curves. She was going to drive him crazy. That was all he could think of as he followed the curve of her neck with his kisses.
Everywhere he touched, everywhere he tasted she responded with pleasure that astonished him. She pulled at his hair and drew in a shuddering breath. She had never wanted like this, never needed like this. Her desperate murmurs triggered explosions inside him. She tugged at his shirt as they began to work their way toward the couch. Her hands were wild, digging into him, dragging over him. Yanking her sweater off he buried his mouth on her breast. She arched against him, pressing closer, welcoming the scrape of his teeth and tongue. They had waited too long, now they were together, no more excuses or evasions, only impatience.
When clothing was ripped away her limbs entwined around him. She could no longer think, only feel. She felt a tremendous ache building, she reached out and he drove her to climax. She gasped out his name and spiraled down, as she did he caught her and sent her soaring again. He watched her peak again felt her fingers dig into his back. He plunged into her. She rose up to meet him with a speed that tore at his already tattered control. Fast, hot, and hard they raced together to the ends of time.
She was soft as water beneath him, her breathing slow and shallow. He felt her hand slide off his back and fall to the rug. Her heart beat quickly under his lips and he closed his eyes and drifted to the sound and the rhythm. They didn't speak. Even if words had been possible he didn't know what ones to use to tell her what she had done to him. He only knew that they were together now and he would do what ever it took to keep it that way.
