There Would be no Card
Valentines Day. Memories flooded her as she sat reading in the window seat, waiting, waiting to see those headlights swing into the driveway.

It was dusk and the sky was red, sliced with purple streaks, as she watched the sun slowly setting. "Red sky at night, sailors delight, red sky in the morning ,sailors take warning," she recited to herself. A storm was on the horizon for the next day.

While she sat there she thought about past Valentines Days.

Some were memorable because he got the right flowers, yellow roses were her favorite he knew, and sometimes he brought them, but sometimes not.But there was always a card.

Some years he would bring home choclates even knowing she was on a diet. But there was always a card.

Some years he would complain "I don't know what you really want" or "I never know what to get you." But there was always a card.

Restaurants were memorable because they always chose a new one to try out. Some were good, some not so good, but it was always an adventure. And there was always a card.

But what she really remembered were all those nights when he pleasured her beyond her wildest dreams.

When they would fill the tub almost to the top with lots of bubbles, when they sat there forever just talking about the future, the kids they would have, the places they would go.

When he wrapped his arms around her and held her close.

When he pulled her on top of him letting his cock slide inside her.

When he thrust with such passion that she thought she would burst.

When his head went between her soft thighs and he moaned as he inhaled her scent.

She remembered how his lips felt sliding over her torso and across her shoulders, across her cheek and down her jawline.

She remembered how his body felt taught and lean under her hands.

She remembered how when he came there was that pause between thrusts as he gathered his strength for that final thrust.

And she remembered how they would lie there for hours, holding each other into the night.

She sat up and looked out at the darkness now.

She closed the book she had been reading.

The cat jumped up into her lap.

There would be no headlights in the driveway tonight.

There would be no yellow roses for valentines day.

There would be no bubble baths or making love into the night.

There would be no him coming through the door with a thumbs up gesture, letting her know it had been a great day.

There would be no him and there would be no card ................... and that was all she really wanted for Valentines Day.

That was all she ever really needed.
