Nancy was nervous enough to look behind her. Quite sudden enough to make Tom look behind in alarm. "What?" he croked. Nancy showed him the note with a small smile on her face. Tom nodded, "that ass Bill wrote that. I'm going to scratch his eyes out when I see him." Nancy smiled the way Tom talked like a girl. She picked up a flaslight and a sinle beam cut through the darkness that always scared her. A short hall led to what she assumed was the dinning room, then the kitchean. She cleared her throat, too many what if's were going through her mind. She had to gain control. "Do you think there's a bathroom down here?" Tom was wondering the same thing. He heard the fear in Nancy's voice, he had to pretend he was a man for her sake. Of course his voice cracked when he said I'm not sure. They each took a step when a barely audibe creak came from above them. A clear sound of a step as they steped. Fine hairs on their necks and arms stood straight up. Nancy aimed the beam at the ceiling in vain hope they would net hear anything else. Loud thudding steps raced across the ceiling. A door screamed as it opened on the second floor. Thunderous steps raced down the starcase to their right. Nancy and Tom eyes followed nothing as something stoped at the bottom of the stairs. Heavy breathing-shallow-urgent-filled the room. Tom's hand laced with Nancy's as raw fear had both rooted where they stood. The front door opened and slam shut rapidly. Two very scared people felt their bladders go. "OUT!!!!!!!" "NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT" Tom somehow screamed out. He pulled Nancy behind him and they flew out. The door slamming shut behind them.
