A RICH MAN'S AS EASY TO LOVE AS A POOR MAN ***************************************************************
When I was a girl my sweet grandma said to me, Life can be whatever you want it it to be, Don't get yourself caught up in a romantic sham, A rich man's as easy to love, as a poor man.
There's no guarantee to happiness you'll see, But the richer the man the better off you'll be, It sounded good to me and made a lot of sense, But for me, a course suited for one more dense.
Now grandma's long gone, my mother old and grey, Dad speaks of them in past tense as if they're away, Mother still waits on him with love in her eye, Happy to have each other, they kiss and sigh.
Tears come to my eyes as I watch them evolve, And day by day life mysteries they seek to solve, Grandma must have told her to marry a rich guy, Just as she told me when her time came to die.
Now I've got a rich man, just like good old dad, No saint, but he's good to me and makes me glad, Lost all his money, but he kept his heart of gold, Just the kind of rich man grandma had foretold.
